How to set boundaries and start saying No
Do you always catch yourself saying ‘Yes’ to things and people that you actually really don’t want to?
I have been there for ages, and I know that’s a terrible feeling.
Setting and maintaining boundaries is something that most of us often struggle with.
You are expected to do an extra amount of work that you were not expecting at your workplace, you deeply want to say ‘No’, but you end up saying ‘yes’ to it because you have not yet learnt to say no.
Or..
A family member wants you to go shopping with them, and you have some other plan. Or perhaps you just want to relax at that time. You want to say ‘you can’t’ but then, you don’t want to disappoint them, and agree to that request or demand.
Maybe..
You get a phone call from a toxic friend who endlessly keeps telling you their victim story. You want to avoid answering that call but then you think it would be ‘just not nice’ to do so.
And you know why that happens?
Because we put people on pedestal. From a very early age, we learn the rules of being nice, and the ‘so called’ rewards of pleasing people even if what they want us to do drains our energy and crushes our soul.
And even though we sometimes say ‘No’ to such unsolicited demands or requests, we feel guilty for hours or days even after that.
I have suffered and struggled with this for a very long time.
Like a lot of you, I used to be that person who sacrificed my own needs and went miles beyond to please others.
In this episode, I want to talk about this very important topic. I want you to give yourself permission to say No to things and people with ease and grace whenever you want.
Because you’re your most important priority! And nothing should even happen at your cost.
Tune In.
